SpeedFan is a freeware diagnostic tool whose primary purpose is to measure the speed of your CPU fan, the temperature and the voltage of the CPU and it can also show you the temperature of your hard drive as long as it supports the S.M.A.R.T technology. Even though it covers only that and nothing much else, many users around the world are in daily need in knowing that information. Whether they suspect that the ability of their fans to cool is compromised with dust or they believe that their hardware is strained with high temperatures, this lightweight, free and very simple to use app can help them get informed within seconds.

Additional feature is the ability to change the speed of the CPU fan, but you should use this feature with caution since some processors might not be able to work when they are not cooled properly. SpeedFan can also monitor your system, and follow a certain course of action under certain conditions (when the temperature of your CPU rises above certain level, when the fan stops spinning, etc) and it can also be responsible for the tracking of up to 7 additional fans that you can arrange in your PC case. Each CPU usually have 3 temperature sensors in various parts of tis casings, GPU has one, and each hard drive also one. These measurements can be viewed in text form, but also in a chart form that can track temperature, fan speeds and voltages.
